The Page Community is in direct discussion with the O'Neill School Board concerning the future of the buildings and land. At this point we are unsure what the outcome will be. There have been three attempts to sell the complex but at this point at least two of them have passed. The final one is still pending. There was a meeting last Monday evening between the board and those that want the large building torn down. We may be making some progress toward this goal.

I would encourage anyone that feels the urge to try to get as many alumni as possible to watch this site. It could be, in the near future that we will need the alumni help in determining the future of the Page School buildings and any future alumni banquet. All things are still possible. Thank you for your interest. Lyle Harvey

Proposal submitted for the old school building.

In my opinion it will not work. The renovation estimates cost are way too low.

I do not believe that the 2 low income housing units will rent for $600 a month. $300 dollars would probably be more realistic.

Who will rent the rooms proposed? Will they offer what the local motels have to offer, I think not?

I am sure most of the alumni will not be willing to donate monies for funding. I would not.

The building is old and up keep will be constant and expensive. It will be a bottomless money pit.

Again, let the school board dispose of the building.

Construct a new building to serve as a community center. It would serve the community far better for years to come.

We have to let go of the past and look toward the future.

There is an interesting story and pictures about the Triangulation Base Stations and the history of Page.

I applaud David for developing this website. It has and will continue to provide a helpful tool for the alumni and all people who are connected to Page. As you may know, I chose to involve myself with the future of the school buildings and land in order to try to help the community and the Village of Page. I formulated my position by trying to decide what would be the best for everyone involved. I did not see a future for the large school building in Page due to the enormous cost of maintenance and upkeep. I felt the small building could serve the alumni very well by providing a place for future banquets as well as providing a community building that could be used for a multitude of uses.

At the last meeting a gentleman stood up and said he put a bid into the O'Neill School Board for all the buildings and the land for the purpose of raising crayfish and bottling exotic oils. Needless to say, this added confusion to the whole issue. Right now, we are trying to sort out all the issues involved so that we can move forward in some direction.

I have always appreciated the alumni of the Page School and will do everything I can to help preserve the small building for future banquets. If you have opinions, please leave them on David's site. Lyle

Let the school board dispose of the building. The city of Page cannot afford  it .

Take the funds that would be required to maintain it and build a facility to serve as a community center. Complete with kitchen, restrooms, and hall for large gatherings.  Make it available to rent for family reunions and etc. It would serve the community far better than the present building ever would.

The meeting regarding the future of the school was held on June 18th.

There were 65 people in attendance. There was discussion on the school. A person showed up that said he was interested in the school for the purpose of packaging exotic oils, and aquaponics. His name is Jason Sullivan. He said he would employ 4 to 7 people in the building. We are told that he also put in a bid to the O'Neill School Board for both buildings.

At 7:45 a vote was taken and the vote to have the school board tear down the large school and give the small building to the community failed 27 to 36.

If the O'Neill School Board accepts his bid, it will include both buildings and the land.
